Well, I know that Jack Nicholson's character in "The Shining" is among my favorite nasty little devils. Who are your favorites?
Alan Rickman as the Sheriff of Nottingham!!! He is so hilarious and yet so evil. He was the only good thing about that movie.
All About Eve is one of my favorite movies of all time. Eve Harrington is a conniving little backstabber that I don't feel the least bit sorry for and Addison Dewitt is a snake in the grass that I adore. All the characters and dialogue in this movie are wonderful.
Second on my list is the teenager you'd love to slap silly; the daughter, Veda, in the movie Mildred Pierce. A more self-centered, snobbish user was never born. As a mother, though, I must admit that I do feel a little bit sorry for her in the end because being young & clueless, she has no idea what future really lies ahead for her.
The writer of this article, Alonso Duralde, is a complete moron. He bases these reviews on his personal opinion of the film. What he may call "a piece of trash" movie is normally a good movie in the eyes of the viewer, and sometimes becomes a favorite of others. I bypass his articles because I think he is an awful writer and critic. His work is not worth reading, and I wish that MSNBC could see that.
Surely any such list should include Jack Palance in "Shane," and Anthony Hopkins as
Hannibal Lecter in "Silence of the Lambs.?
Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe) in Cruel Intentions...utterly without morals throughout all but the last 20 minutes of the film as opposed to Kathryn (Sarah Michelle Gellar), who, even after Sebastain's death, shows no remorse until she realizes that her "cruel intentions" have been publically exposed....and of course, by extension, Valmont (John Malkovich) and Isabelle (Glen Close) in Dangerous Liaisons.
Add to your list Heath Ledger's tour-de-force performance as The Joker in "The Dark Knight".
I saw the film for the second time yesterday and I'm even more impressed than I was the first time. He dominates every second that he's on screen with both a physical and vocal performance so brave, creepy and effective that he makes Johnny Depp look like he's playing it safe.
